About the Band

Sons of Thunder was started in August of 2008. The most improtant thing to all the band members is Jesus and our relationship with Him. We have practices regularly. The practies involve review of songs we've written and formulating new ideas. Our songs started out as purely instrumental of one guitar, a bass, and drums. Now we have two guitars or a guitar and keyboard, bass or auxiliary percussion, barry saxophone, alto saxophone, bass, vocals, and drums. Andrew Smit is our lead guitarist. He also plays barry sax, alto sax, piano, clarinet, and french horn. He is the one who writes most of our instrumental parts, and guitar riffs. Andrew Wilbur is our rhythm guitarist and piano player. He has over nine years in piano and has been playing guitar for about half a year. Soren Iverson plays bass guitar, auxiliary percussion, drums, trombone, sings, and writes lyrics. Josh Hildenbrand plays drums, and has been for over three years. All of the bands members are headed into their freshmen year of high school at CSCS.

Drew Wilbur

Hey, it's Wilbur the pig....I mean....well...hey! Stop laughing! Ya, people say my last name in a horse whinnie kinda way because that's how it is in the movie, "Charolette's Web." However...I am no pig....

-I just recently joined the Sons of Thunder in early January.
-I have played guitar for about a year and a half. Electric for only about a half of a year.
-I have played piano for 9 years...
-Today is my birthday!!!
-I make a good aerodactyl nose or swine...one of the two...
-I play drums...a bit (still learning from JOSH!!!)
-I play video games, baseball, basketball, and I used to wrestle.
-I'm the rhythm guitarist in the band (which is harder than normal because our songs are crazy awesome and the rhythm parts are like lead in a normal band...meaning...our band is above normal...)
-I love my doggy Paige...she's a white fluffy pooooodle!
-I have lots of amazing friends that cary me to spanish after lunch on my birthday!!!

-And...Mr. and Mrs. Iverson are amazing for letting us use their house for band practice. Thank you!!
-I also want to thank my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur (I don't call them that...it's just to sound fancy... haha), Mrs. Hildenbrand, and Mr. and Mrs. Smit for supporting our band in what hopes to be a life long adventure.
-In addition...I'd like to thank Smitty, for teaching me nearly all he knows about guitar. I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today if it were'nt for him.

And I want to thank all our fans for coming to our concerts.
And last but not least...I want to thank Smitty, Soren, and Josh for letting me take part in this band. It's the 3rd best thing that has happened to me. 1st is being born, 2nd is giving my life to the Lord, and 3rd is being in a band with my 3 best friends. Thanks guys.

Hey its Soren... I'm gonna tell you a little bit about myself

This is us playing at Battle of the Bands. We couldn't compete because we weren't in highschool, but next year we can. Our first song is called, "Awestruck," and the second is called, "Calming the Storm." Hope you like!

Our Story

Ok, here's our story. In September of 2008, Soren (Bass Player) asked Smitty (Lead Guitarist) and Josh (Drummer) to play a song in the talent show at our school. The hostess of this event was doing this as a project for a class she took which all the profits had to go to an organazation to help the needy. Everyone loved their song and wanted more. In December, the trio played at a Christmas party at one of our classmate's house. In early January of 2009, Soren asked me (Rhythm Guitarist (aka Drew)) if I would come to one of their band practices. I went, tried out, and got accepted as the rhythm guitarist. Following that, we came up with the name, "The Sons of Thunder," for our band. All of us liked it and so here we are, "The Sons of Thunder!" My dad took some pictures of us at Soren's house and then one of our friends at school's dad, photoshopped us into an amazingly awesome album cover. The next few posts are the pics and then our album cover. Hope you like!
